Day 1 - Travel Day Merida to Miami

​The last chance I have to pack anything from home is gone and I am now on my way to my first stop, Miami Florida. This was the only direct flight to Manaus and today was the only day to catch a direct flight to Miami from Merida.

I will be in Miami long enough to shop for a few things I can't get here like:

• pants (the quick drying kind ie Columbia) that are in woefully short supply in Merida. Deportes Marti had exactly THREE pairs of pants in the wrong size (at 38W and 30L these are made for the short and fat set)
• a light rain jacket as we can expect there to be some precipitation in the Manaus area
• a day pack that will enable me to carry on my heavy laptop on the plane as opposed to packing it in the big backpack where it will surely suffer a mishap of the crushing variety.

I will also be trying out airbnb in Miami for the first time, staying just a short drive from the airport in a room in a house with a dog who looks like our Tao. I considered it a sign and booked that rental over the others I had been considering.
