As cachoeiras do Presidente Figueiredo
Presidente Figueiredo is a small town 2 hours from Manaus on highway BR-174 known for its many cachoeiras or waterfalls. There are at least about 60 on record and visitable, which is what people from Manaus do on holidays and long weekends, crowding these small spaces with coolers and making so much noise you can't hear the water rushing past, apparently. The day we went, in the middle of the week, the place was tranquil and a perfect place to refresh and renew. The water temperature was fresh, and although the color may be a bit disconcerting, it is a result of the roots of the plants along the rivers trajectory and nothing to be concerned about. Added bonus: no piranhas or anything deadly for a change!
